MILK BOTTLE TOP NEWS & INFORMATION

27th August 2009

Hi and welcome to all collectors of Milk Bottle tops for Charities.

This page in future will give you information and news about your collections.

For all those who have been asking about a drop off point in Swindon. It's at:-

Accord Office Supplies
Unit 22 Bridge Mead,
West Mead Industrial Estate,
Swindon SM5 7TL.

We have two green wheelie bins on the site by the Goods In door, any overflow can be put in the yellow 'Save a Cup' bin.

Please let us know if you are dropping tops to the site so we can collect and keep the area clean and tidy. I hope to be able to leave poly sacks at the site for you to put your tops in. You'll find them much better than dustbin sacks. Keep an eye on this page for when we are able to put them there.

We are happy to be able to send two cheques out this week. One to Dawn Fletcher who collects in the Chard Dorset area for Project Romania. They have collected 1.293 tonnes of bottle tops and the Charity will receive a cheque for £64.65 Congratulations to Dawn and all her collectors for all their hard work and lots of milk drinking.

The other cheque is to Anne Hagan who has been collecting for 'Alexander Devine Children's Cancer Trust'. She and her group have collected  571 Kg and a cheque for £28.55 is winging its way by snail mail to Anne to give to her Charity

Since Linda left we have had a large number of emails enquiring about drop off points and collections. My apologies if you have not yet received a reply. I am working my way through all the emails so you should receive a reply shortly. If you are urgently waiting for a collection please call or email again. Our collections are up and running after our recent reorganisation.

For some reason there has been a rumour that we have stopped collecting. THIS IS UNTRUE. We have only had problems with the outer collection areas South and West of London where our collecting vehicle has changed. We have, as far as I know, managed to collect from anyone who has contacted us because they are running out of space.  Also despite the fall in recycled plastic prices we have kept the contribution we make to Charities the same. It is still £25.00 per 500 Kg. Hopefully as the economy improves or rather once China reopens its seaports the price will rise and we will be able to contribute more.

Finally a very BIG THANK YOU to 'Save-a-Cup', a company that collects and recycles cardboard and plastic vending machine cups, for all their help in collecting milk bottle tops for us. If the company you work for has drink vending machines and their cups are being thrown away to landfill 'Save-a-Cup' are the people to contact.

Thanks again to every one for your efforts

Guy
